The remarkable and moving love story inspired by the real lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili was one of the first people to undergo sex reassignment surgery. Her and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s ground-breaking journey as a transgender pioneer. The story unfolds in the 1920s and magnificently showcases the clothes of the time. All the costumes were specially made out of fabric from vintage dresses, antique fabrics, hats and jewelleries by renowned costume designer Paco Delgado, who found inspiration in designers such as Coco Chanel and Jeanne Lanvin. The film is presented in collaboration with MIX COPENHAGEN LGBT film festival and Empire Bio.
