COPENHAGEN FASHION FILM started out of a love for fashion, film, art, music and the dynamics and effects in between eight years ago. Every year in February we host our annual festival in Copenhagen. We highlight fashion films through our curated film programme, talks, debates and exhibitions. After a few years working with the festival we found out that if was important for us pay special attention to the rapidly growing phenomenon – the fashion short film, as an independent genre. We wanted to provide the framework for collaboration among designers, artists, directors, companies and researchers.  So we started our Open Call competition and has since then received many films from all over the world.

We see it as one of our key objectives to give visibility and build an interest in the genre fashion short films, and support the talented people that work with fashion and film in new ways. It has always been our wish and hope that the festival can function as a platform to build a community.

Each year we announce and celebrate the winners in our different categories at a festive event, which is open to the audience. This is a chance for the filmmakers and designers to get their work screened to a wider audience and also a chance to get their film reviewed by a professional jury. We give out 5 prizes: Best international Fashion Film, Best Idea, Best Message, Best Nordic Talent, Best New Talent.
Since we started the open call in 2016, we have had very strong jury members all working with fashion, film and as fashion researchers. To mention a few we have had the pleasure of working with: Film directors Jonas Åkeson, Alex Turvey, Kathryn Ferguson, Matt Lambert and Marie Schuller, as well as Danish designers Asger Juel Larsen, Peter Jensen and Barbara I Gongini, and researchers Ane Lynge Jorlen and visual artist Andreas Eminius.

For our three years with open call we have received a lot of films from all over the world but In this programme you will find all the winners from the previous three years.
