Silver screen starlet Gloria Swanson adorns the screen in Cecil B. DeMille’s silent film Male And Female from 1919 that turns gender and class discussions upside down in a dynamic and visionary way. Swanson plays Lady Mary, an aristocratic snob, who is worshiped by her butler played by Thomas Meighan. The story is portrayed through dreamlike scenarios with spectacular costumes designed by the world famous costume designer Clare West.
